Yes, there really are bears that will come visiting.
This adolescent was strolling around our campsite at around 6:00 or so in
the morning. We were lucky enough to get a photo of him, before
banging our pots to scare him away. |
| This owl came swooping right in over Mr. Derrane's head one evening
around dusk. During the evenings, we were lulled to sleep by the
sounds of loons on the lake, and coyotes in the hills. |

Okay... so the fish isn't all that impressive, but that's
not for lack of trying! |

With so many boys, we
divided the troop into two patrols, each of which managed their own command
structure, which helped keep things organized. This was particularly
helpful in keeping track of who cooked and who cleaned.As is the case
every year, the weeks starts out a little rough, but after on a day or so,
they were running like a well oiled machine.
To be honest, the food supplied by Cedarlands as a little light this
year, but we fared well anyway with a couple trips to town, and plenty of
fresh berries around camp |
