In my time at Log
Cabin Wilderness Camp and the surrounding areas (most of these areas about a
ten hour walk from the camp) I had a large amount of experiences.
I must say, the place wasn’t very wildernessy at the main camp area.
There was indoor plumbing and electricity at the mess hall, as well as
showers and lockers on the opposite side of the building. We slept in tents
several hundred feet away from the mess hall with all of our gear occupying
the same area.
We went through a series of courses which decided if our groups could
work together and work well in the high altitudes. These tests included
keeping our feet of the ground or on a 8' by 10' board. Next, we had to
arrange ourselves on a huge metal pipe by the size of an animal we chose.
The next course we did was the dreaded tire on the splintery pole. The
object was to get a rather large tire over the top of the splintery pole
with nothing but a six foot board and the brilliant minds of the B team.
These challenges taught us how to work together and work efficiently as a
team.
