Yosemite was the
best boy scout related event/trip I have ever gone on. Everything from a
meteor shower at 9500 ft. to giant pine cones was a fun and new experience
for me.
The mountain lion spotting was also an interesting event, being that
there are only about a dozen sightings a year. The days were hot, the nights
freezing, and the trails were treacherous, and the food was sometimes
sub-standard, but the hike was still my favorite part of the trip. We saw
everything from dense forest to desert like terrain.
Water was also a big part of the hike. Dehydration was not a problem for
anyone, but it was thanks to a few high quality water pumps that no one got
e-coli or contracted other any other less than desirable illnesses.
At one point we also lost the trail. With little help from GPS systems we
ended up using teamwork to scale a few vertical drops, not losing any gear
or people (luckily).
