After a little debate (very little, as it turns out) we
opted as a group to finish our hike here. We had the option of going
another 10 miles or so, but with the rest of the troop back at LCWC, and
with all we'd done so far, we were comfortable enough with what we'd
accomplished.
So... we kicked back and enjoyed what May Lake had to
offer, which was a lot of relaxation and fishing opportunities.
|
Mr. Rose and Mr. Derrane hiked back route 120 to work at finding a
phone and calling in to Gil at LCWC to arrange a pickup, while the rest of
us explored the area we camped at.

It turns out the camp at May Lake offered lodging similar
to what was back in Curry Village, and that people could stay in a
pre-made tenting area, complete with gourmet dinners(!).
|
Stuff got to/from the camp-site by mule train, including the mail.
It's one of the last places in America where mail is carried by mule.
I don't know how it happened, but the hike out was a lot
shorter than the hike in.
