Less than 15 minutes from our stop at
Olmstead Point, having just
come out of an impressive storm, we had to pull off the road just to check
things out. The ground was completely covered
with fine hail, just as if there'd been a snow storm.
In August!
The photo at the top of the page is probably one of the
most beautiful of all the ones take by any of us on this trip. Mike
Fitzsimmons did a great job. I use the full-screen version as the
background on my computer, and it always gets complements and questions.
A close second is the photo at the bottom of this page.

It's worth pointing out that only a few hours prior, we were several thousand
feet lower in elevation, in shorts and t-shirts, sweating(!), climbing around at
the base of Yosemite Falls,
and now here we were shivering.
